Artistic Philosophy and Firm Profile Jer Giles provides the elegant classical approach to interior decorative painting for the sophisticated architect, designer and home owner. The firm is composed of the husband and wife team of Jerry Giles and Patricia Siegfreid-Giles. Our combined talents keep Jer Giles Artwalls one of the most recognized names in the Decorative Arts in the Metroplex. We began our business as Decorative Artists in 1982. Our portfolio includes painted murals, dramatic environments, traditional, European and custom wall finishes in homes, multimillion dollar estates, offices and restaurants. Beginning in 1982 Jer Giles has garnered recognition in the Decorative Arts. More recently he was featured in The Dallas Morning News High Profile "Faces" and Today Papers "People", numerous articles in Dallas Life Magazine "Home and Design", In the Spotlight in "Dallas-Fort Worth DESIGN" and featured several times in the now defunct "Dallas/Fort Worth Home and Design" magazine. Jer Giles began offering clients computer design imaging in 1989. We offer, in house, computer imaging of the project showing the proposed work in the existing space. The digital camera puts an image of the room into the computer where we create and paint what we intend to do with the space. The computer image shows the client the proposed design in the actual space. This high tech approach to renderings is a definite plus in the design concept phase of a project. Jer Giles keeps a "green" studio. When the painting industry reformulated their paints from oil base to water base, Jerry adapted his techniques and has been using latex paints ever since. Jer Giles works from a palette and mixes his own colors creating murals with exceptional depth, faux finishes remarkably realistic, and causing no harm to himself, the homeowners, or to the environment. Jer Giles provide our clients with the talent, expertise and leadership necessary to create unique painted solutions, which are bold, exciting, dramatic, yet practical and livable. Ninety percent of our new business comes from referrals. We establish long-term relationships with many clients and get repeat business when their family and lifestyles grow over the years. We proudly offer our clients quality, artistic integrity, service, attention to their needs, and competitive professional fees. Principals of the Firm Jerry W. Jer Giles - Artist/Designer/Entrepreneur Jerry W. Giles grew up in Huntsville, Alabama at the height of the space race. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatrical Design and Production from The University of Texas, Austin in 1973. Jerry has painted scenery professionally for national stage, screen, and television with three shows on Broadway. Jerry has been an independent business owner since 1979 establishing Jer Giles Scenic Artist. In 1982 he crossed the footlights painting magic in homes, offices, and restaurants around the country. In 1986 he developed a niche in the Decorative Arts and established Jer Giles Artworks, Inc. Jer initiated computer design imaging in 1989. In March of 1997 he became the first Decorative Artist in Texas to appear on the Internet with his own web site, http://www.jergiles.com. Jer maintains a "green" studio in Historic Lancaster Texas. An avid computer game player, Jer brings his joy of painting, fine eye to detail, and interest in technology to the game. His decorative arts company has been in business for over 17 years. He credits his success to his theatrical background. Before Jerry crossed the footlights to paint in homes, he created his magic on the stage. Some of his credits as a Scenic Artist include: Carol Channings revival of "Hello Dolly" for Broadway, Henry Fondas one man show "Clarence Darrow For the Defense" for Broadway and broadcast live from SMU for national television, and Charlton Hestons production of "A Man For All Seasons" in Los Angeles. "This was in the mid to late 70s when Dallas was the premier place to build and paint scenery." His greatest success as a Scenic Artist came in 1979. The opera "Manon Lescaut", a coproduction of the Dallas and Miami opera companies was painted exclusively by Jerry. His fledging company Jer Giles Scenic Artist received program credit, an acknowledgment heretofore unprecedented by scenic artists. In fact in his review of the premier, John Ardoin, renowned music and opera critic for the Dallas Morning News, described Jerrys talent as, "Remarkable old-world craftsmanship." By 1982 he began painting opera sets in homes. As their brochures states, "more than a painted finish... an ambiance." He provides dramatic environments such as murals, wine cellars, trompe loeil, and any number of classical and fantasy finishes. His work can also be so subtle the eye is unable to tell if the walls are painted several colors, or if its a trick of the natural light. |
